Temple Mount Institute: The Incomparable Joy of Sukkot

The Incomparable Joy of Sukkot

Tishrei 14, 5767/October 6, 2006

The festival of Sukkot - Tabernacles - completes the spiritual odyssey of this beautiful month of Tishrei. And it is truly a spiritual experience for all who participate in the Divine cycle of time that is the Hebrew calendar. Rosh HaShana, the Ten Days of Repentance and Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement – with their soul-searching, cleansing and purification, give way to the incomparable joy of Sukkot as established by G-d's word: "And you shall only be joyous on your Festival" (Deut. 16:15). Sukkot has a deep connection to all the nations of the world and the prophet Zechariah (14:16) informs us that in the future, all righteous people will come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Festival together with Israel. May we merit to see that day together, in the rebuilt Holy Temple!

Please be sure to watch Rabbi Chaim Richman on this week's Light to the Nations special two part teaching about Sukkot in the Holy Temple. Both Part 1 and Part 2 can be viewed or downloaded by clicking here.

Next week we will be filming our weekly Light to the Nations program directly from Rabbi Richman's sukkah, here in Jerusalem. We invite you to be his guest, and participate in the joy of dwelling in the sukkah.

Chag sameach - a joyous festival -
and a healthy, happy and prosperous new year to all,

Yitzchak Reuven
