SUKKOT AND THE SEVENTY NATIONS
My Firstborn Child Series -- Essay #55

R&B Editor's Note:
Today, Friday, October 6, is the thirty third anniversary of the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War (October 6, 1973 --- October 6, 2006).
Israeljustice.com [http://www.israeljustice.com/news2.asp?key=16] has just reported that the "government" of the "State" of Israel -- on the very Eve of Shabbat and Sukkot/Feast of Tabernacles, 5767 -- has, in its arrogance, impudence and open rebellion against the G-d of Israel, issued expulsion "orders" against thirty Jewish Pioneers in Judea and Samaria: "GOVERNMENT ISSUES EVICTION ORDERS" (Israeljustice.com, Friday, October 6, 2006).
That being the case, the R&B Editor believes that a second, heavier, devastating dose of "missile therapy" -- Yom Kippur War II -- will soon be administered to the Zionist Entity, as a follow up to the unsuccessful "missile therapy" administered to that Entity during the Three Weeks of Repentance War in July-August, 2006 ("unsuccessful" as there was little or no Israeli national repentance for the Sin of the August, 2005 Gush Katif Expulsion, during the following year, from August, 2005 through August, 2006; and this additional act of rebellion shows there has been little or no national repentance in the two months following the July-August, 2006 Three Weeks of Repentance War).
Excerpt from "Sukkot and the Seventy Nations":
"On the first day of Succos, we read a section from the Book of Zechariah which tells the following story about how HaShem alone shall be exalted on that day: Before the final redemption, an international military force representing the nation-states of the world will invade the renewed Jewish community in Jerusalem. The ancient hatred of our People will have surfaced, and these nations will attempt to eliminate our presence in Zion.
Our endangered People will be saved, as 'HaShem will go out and wage war with those nations' [Zechariah 14:3]. The defeat of their armed forces through the open and miraculous intervention of the Compassionate One will lead to universal spiritual renewal, and all will acknowledge the unity and sovereignty of the Compassionate One.
As the Prophet states:
'It will be a unique day, known to HaShem, neither day or night, but it will happen towards evening that there will be light. And on that day, living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, one half towards the eastern sea and one half towards the western sea; in summer and in winter will it last. And HaShem will be the sovereign over all the earth; on that day, HaShem will be One and His Name will be One'".

Dear Friends,
We will begin to discuss the relationship of the earth's nations to the Festival of Succos (Tabernacles). According to the Torah, there are seventy primary nations which are the roots of the diverse national groups and cultures which we have today. This figure is based on the number of the descendants of Noah which are listed in the Book of Genesis, after the story of the Great Flood.
Seventy names are recorded, and at the end of the section it states, "These are the families of Noah's descendants, according to their generations, by their nations; and from these the nations were separated on the earth after the flood" [Bereshit/Genesis 10:32]. The Midrash therefore teaches that seventy nations emerged from Noah [Numbers Rabbah 14:12].
The Torah states that the festival offerings that we bring during the seven days of Succos include seventy bulls [Bamidbar/Numbers 29:12-34]. According to the Torah, there are 13 bull-offerings on the first day of the Festival, 12 on the second day, eleven on the third day, ten on the fourth day, nine on the fifth day, eight on the sixth day, and seven on the seventh day -- totaling seventy [Bamidbar/Numbers 29:12-34].
The Talmud explains that these offerings are on behalf of the seventy primary nations of the world [Babylonian Talmud/Tractate Succos 55b]. In his commentary on this Talmudic passage, the classical commentator, Rashi, explains that the purpose of these offerings is to seek atonement on behalf of the seventy nations so that the entire world will merit rain during the coming year.
Succos is also known as the "Festival of the Harvest" [Shemot/Exodus 23:16]. During the seven days of this harvest festival, we are to ask HaShem -- the Compassionate One -- to give the seventy nations continued life and sustenance through the blessing of rain. We seek their continued existence, as each of these nations has a unique purpose within the creation. These seventy offerings -- which were accompanied by the singing of the Levites and instrumental music -- serve as an inspiring reminder of our universal concern for all the nations.
Rashi, in his commentary on the biblical passage about these offerings, adds a teaching which seems to contradict the universal interpretation he gave in his commentary on the Talmud. In his Bible commentary, he writes: "The bulls of the Festival are seventy, corresponding to the seventy nations, and they progressively decrease in number, i.e. each day, fewer bulls are offered than the day before. This alludes to the eventual destruction of the nations" [Commentary on Bamidbar/Numbers 29:12-34].
In his commentary on the Talmud, Rashi states that the purpose of the seventy offerings is to preserve the seventy nations. In his commentary on the biblical text, Rashi adds that the decreasing number of offerings on each day alludes to the eventual destruction of the seventy nations. How do we understand this contradiction? In addition, Rashi's teaching regarding the destruction of the nations seems to contradict all the biblical prophecies which describe the redemption of the nations during the Messianic Age!
For example, it is written, "It will happen in the End of Days: The mountain of the Temple of HaShem will be firmly established as the head of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills, and all the nations will stream to it" [Yeshayahu/Isaiah 2:2]. How, then, are we to understand Rashi's statement regarding the "destruction" of the nations?
The beginning of the answer can be found in the following prayer that we chanted on Rosh HaShana (New Year's Day) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) regarding world unity: "Let them all become one society to do Your will wholeheartedly". The Divine goal for human history is one, unified society; thus, the decrease in the number of offerings each day is alluding to the elimination of seventy independent and competing nation-states that currently oppose the unifying purpose of the Compassionate One. Humanity will enter a new stage of history when there will no longer be seventy separate nation-states opposing each other; instead, there will be one society composed of seventy diverse peoples that will be aligned with Israel in the service of the Compassionate One.
The Prophet Zephaniah therefore proclaimed the following Divine message: "For then I will cause the peoples to speak a purified language, so that they all will proclaim the Name of HaShem, to serve Him with a united resolve" [Zephaniah 3:9].
Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch discusses the future demise of the nation-state in his commentary on Tehillim/Psalm 67:5. Rabbi Hirsch writes that there will still be diverse peoples, each with its own characteristics, but all these peoples will be united through their acceptance of the Divine sovereignty and through their fulfillment of the Divine will. In addition, the rulers of the nation-states "will retreat before God, back into the ranks of the peoples". Rabbi Hirsch explains that these former rulers will still work for the welfare of their peoples, but they will do so under the leadership of the Compassionate One.
Regarding this future age, it is written: "They will proclaim the Name of HaShem, for His Name alone is exalted" [Tehillim/Psalm 148:13]. According to the classical Bible commentator, the Sforno, this verse is alluding to the elimination of all forms of human sovereignty in the age when all will acknowledge the sovereignty of the Compassionate One, as it states: "Humankind's haughty eyes will be brought low, and men's arrogance will be humbled; and HaShem alone shall be exalted on that day" [Yeshayahu/Isaiah 2:11].
On the first day of Succos, we read a section from the Book of Zechariah which tells the following story about how HaShem alone shall be exalted on that day: Before the final redemption, an international military force representing the nation-states of the world will invade the renewed Jewish community in Jerusalem. The ancient hatred of our People will have surfaced, and these nations will attempt to eliminate our presence in Zion.
Our endangered People will be saved, as "HaShem will go out and wage war with those nations" [Zechariah 14:3]. The defeat of their armed forces through the open and miraculous intervention of the Compassionate One will lead to universal spiritual renewal, and all will acknowledge the unity and sovereignty of the Compassionate One.
As the Prophet states:
"It will be a unique day, known to HaShem, neither day or night, but it will happen towards evening that there will be light. And on that day, living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, one half towards the eastern sea and one half towards the western sea; in summer and in winter will it last. And HaShem will be the sovereign over all the earth; on that day, HaShem will be One and His Name will be One".
[Zechariah 14:7-9]
"Living waters will flow out of Jerusalem” -– In addition to the simple meaning, this alludes to the spreading of the Divine teachings which will cause all the nations to acknowledge the unity and sovereignty of HaShem [Commentary of the Malbim, a 19th century sage). The Prophet adds: "It shall be that all who are left over from all the nations who had invaded Jerusalem will come up every year to worship the Sovereign, HaShem, Who is God of all the hosts of creation, and to celebrate the Festival of Succos" [Zechariah 14:16].
"To worship HaShem"-– "The God of love of all the hosts of creation" (Rabbi Hirsch). Instead of serving a god of hatred, they will serve the universal God of love.
In their commentaries on the above passage, the Metzudas David and the Malbim cite the tradition that the defeat of the armed forces attacking Zion will take place during Succos. In order to commemorate this miraculous event which inspired the nations to acknowledge the Divine unity and sovereignty, pilgrims from the nations will journey to the rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem each Succos. They will join us on the very Festival when we bring seventy offerings on their behalf.
We will then experience the fulfillment of the following Divine promise:
"My House shall be called a house of prayer for all the peoples".
[Yeshayahu/Isaiah 56:7]

Related Teachings and Comments:
1. A term for "people" in biblical Hebrew is am, and a term for "nation" in biblical Hebrew is goy (plural form -- goyim). The root meaning of goy is "body"; thus, Rabbi Hirsch explains that the term goy refers to the outer structure or "body" of a nation. Rabbi Hirsch points out that when verses in our Sacred Scriptures refer to the future destruction of evil nations before the dawn of the Messianic Age, they usually use the term goyim. These verses are therefore referring to the destruction of evil national structures, but not to the destruction of the peoples (Rabbi Hirsch's commentary to Tehillim/Psalms 10:16 and 67:5).
2. When the Compassionate One promised Abraham, our father, that a great nation will emerge from him, the Compassionate One added, "And through you, all the families of the earth will be blessed" [Bereshit/Genesis 12:30]. The verse does not mention "nations" or even "peoples"; instead it refers to families. The verse is therefore alluding to the final stage of human history when the relationship of all the peoples of the earth to each other will be a relationship of families. (This insight is from Dr. Isaac Levy, grandson of Rabbi Hirsch, who did an English translation of Rabbi Hirsch's German translation of and commentary on the Torah. Dr. Levy's comment appears in parenthesis in Rabbi Hirsch's commentary on Bereshit/Genesis 12:3).
3. The Netziv, a 19th century sage and Bible commentator, cites the tradition that during the reign of King Shlomo (Solomon), representatives from all the nations would come to Jerusalem during the Festival of Succos, when Israel offered seventy offerings on behalf of the seventy primary nations of the earth. The Netziv writes that during the intermediate days of the Festival of Succos, the sages of the nations who were in Jerusalem would hear King Shlomo share his teachings from the Book of Ecclesiastes [Herchav Davar on Bamidbar/Numbers 29:12]. The Book of Ecclesiastes was written by King Shlomo, and there is a custom to chant this book during the Festival of Succos.
4. At the dawn of the Messianic Age, when the peoples begin to acknowledge the Divine sovereignty, the Messiah will act as a judge who will help to settle the disputes among the peoples [Yeshayahu/Isaiah 2:4]; however, he will fulfill this role as a representative of the Divine Teaching, and not as an agent of human authority.
5. Shabbos and the Festival of Succos begin just before sundown today, Friday, October 6th (4:42 p.m., Jerusalem, Israel, time). The candles or oil lamps are lit before sundown. For further information on the celebration and customs of Succos, please visit: http://www.aish.com/holidays/Sukkot/

The festival of Sukkot - Tabernacles - completes the spiritual odyssey of this beautiful month of Tishrei. And it is truly a spiritual experience for all who participate in the Divine cycle of time that is the Hebrew calendar. Rosh HaShana, the Ten Days of Repentance and Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement – with their soul-searching, cleansing and purification, give way to the incomparable joy of Sukkot as established by G-d's word: "And you shall only be joyous on your Festival" (Deut. 16:15). Sukkot has a deep connection to all the nations of the world and the prophet Zechariah (14:16) informs us that in the future, all righteous people will come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Festival together with Israel. May we merit to see that day together, in the rebuilt Holy Temple!
Please be sure to watch Rabbi Chaim Richman on this week's Light to the Nations special two part teaching about Sukkot in the Holy Temple. Both Part 1 and Part 2 can be viewed or downloaded by clicking here.
Next week we will be filming our weekly Light to the Nations program directly from Rabbi Richman's sukkah, here in Jerusalem. We invite you to be his guest, and participate in the joy of dwelling in the sukkah.

Kulanu is confused!
"All Together" for more stories of once "lost" Jews finding Judaism and Israel once again....
Stories indeed...
"The greater part of the Jewish people were 'lost' in the eighth century B.C.E., when the ten northern Israelite tribes were conquered by Assyria and the captives were forcibly resettled. Today the descendants of these Ten Lost Tribes can probably be found in India, Burma, Afghanistan, Pakistan and China. " - quote from Kulanu (emphasis mine)
Probably not. However, for those interested in the legitimate ethnic Israelites - not merely Jewish converts or descendants of Jewish converts - consider this family information of peoples and nation who alone bear the biblical birthmarks of fulfilled prophecies meant to identify the 12 Tribes of Israel:

Who Murdered Yitzhak Rabin?: The Root & Branch Information Services is serializing the book Who Murdered Yitzhak Rabin?, by Mr. Barry Chamish, with permission of the author, to commemorate the upcoming eleventh anniversary of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin (November 4, 1995 -- November 4, 2006).
The Bible Says:
"How is the faithful city [Jerusalem] become a harlot. She that was full of justice, righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers. Your silver is become dross, your wine is mixed with water. Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves; every one loves bribes, and follows after rewards; they judge not the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.
Therefore, says the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: Ah, I will ease Me of My adversaries, and avenge Me of My enemies; and I will turn My hand upon you, and purge away your dross as with lye, and will take away all your allow; and I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counsellors as at the beginning; afterward you [Jerusalem] shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and they who return of her with righteousness.
But the destruction of the transgressors and the sinners shall be together, and they who forsake the Lord shall be consumed. For they shall be ashamed of the terebinths which you have desired, and you shall be confounded for the garden that you have chosen. For you shall be as a terebinth whose leaf fades, and as a garden that has no water. And the strong shall be as tow, and his work as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them".

Introduction
There are good assassination conspiracies where the murderers never get caught. The conspiracy to murder Yitzhak Rabin was not one of them. It was a sloppy conspiracy and the murderers may eventually pay for the deed. They left too many indisputable clues to escape justice...if indeed, the Israeli political establishment is really interested in justice. For a variety of reasons, it may not be.
Yitzhak Rabin was a prime target for assassination. As prime minister, a peace process with the P.L.O. and Syria was forced upon him from abroad and he became a far too willing advocate of a diplomacy which was leading to Israel's sure demise. He faced mortal danger from two opposing camps; the minions of Israelis who fought the so-called peace process and the foreign and Israeli power brokers who devised and supported it. The former were blamed for the murder while the latter were responsible for it.
However, be forewarned; this book does not delve into Rabin's murky diplomatic ties nor does it name who gave the order for the assassination. The reason is simple enough; the author doesn't know who was at the top of the conspiracy. Nonetheless, readers of this book will discover who had to have been in the operational level. The purpose of this book, then, is to prove that Rabin could not possibly have been killed by his accused murderer, Yigal Amir. The author completely succeeds at that task.
To keep the peace process on track, it was vital that all opponents to it be de-legitimized. Opposition came from all quarters in Israel, even from within Rabin's Labour Party which saw a faction break off and eventually join the later Likud-led government. But the most vocal opponents were religious, right wing and often, Sephardi.
The alleged murderer of Rabin, Yigal Amir was all three. He was the most politically useful patsy that could be devised. Yigal Amir was an activist of an intelligence front organization called Eyal. It was created by the General Security Services (Shabak) and the man in charge was Avishai Raviv, a Shabak agent since 1987. His assignment was to attract anti-peace process radicals to Eyal and set them up for arrest. One of his duties was to provoke Yigal Amir into shooting Rabin and the author has gathered ample testimony from people who witnessed his [Raviv's] methods.
Many, if not most of the Shabak agents, and possibly several policeman on duty the night of the assassination were instructed to allow a sting operation to take place. Yigal Amir would be provided with a gun without real bullets in the clip. He would shoot a blank at Rabin and be caught red-handed. Rabin's government would then have the justification to order a nation-wide crackdown on opponents of the peace process.
And indeed, after Rabin was shot, Shabak agents yelled "They're blanks", "It was a toy gun", "It's an exercise", "They were caps", "It wasn't real", "Dummy bullets", and the like because they thought a sting had taken place.
But there was a double cross. Amir shot his blank bullet and Rabin, very much alive, was shoved into his limousine where the real assassin waited. The vehicle conveniently got lost and the one minute trip to the hospital took over eight minutes down the dark streets of Tel Aviv. During that time the murderer completed his job and left the car.
That is not speculation nor, in the author's opinion, even theory. That is what happened and the following book will prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. The author has collected hundreds of pages of police reports, court protocols, public and personal testimony in a mostly successful attempt to solve this deadly mystery.
Just a few of the clues the conspirators left behind include:
The "amateur" film of the assassination showing Rabin's back car door being slammed shut before he enters the vehicle. Someone was waiting inside the car for Rabin.
The same film documenting that Rabin's bodyguards allowed Amir to take a clear shot at the prime minister and that he survived it.
Testimony from witnesses a few feet from Rabin, including his wife, who saw him continue walking briskly after being shot. Ten minutes after the "shooting", one witness, Miriam Oren, told a national television audience, "Rabin wasn't
hurt. I saw him walk into the car".
Testimony from numerous security and police officers who did not believe Rabin was shot because he didn't fall, cry out in pain, nor bleed.
Police laboratory tests concluding that Rabin was shot point blank, though the government's commission of inquiry concluded that Amir shot from a good half meter's distance.
The Police ballistics report stating that Amir's clip contained eight bullets, though he only loaded nine.
The unexplainable disappearance of the bullets for 22 hours after their supposed removal from Rabin's body.
The death certificate signed by Dr. Mordecai Gutman, one of the surgeons who operated on Rabin, stating that he was shot through the chest from the front and that his spine was shattered, claims backed the same evening by an operating room nurse, the Health Minister, the Director of Ichilov Hospital, a patient and even Foreign Minister Shimon Peres. The
official version of events has Amir shooting Rabin in the back with no spinal damage.
These are mere teasers. The conspiracy was so bad that besides abundant physical evidence left behind, the conspirators themselves didn't coordinate their testimony. So, one after another they contradicted each other.
The author personally believes the assassination has America written all over it. Compare Amir with the patsy of the J.F.K. drama, Lee Harvey Oswald:
Lee Harvey Oswald left the marines and flew to the Soviet Union on an intelligence assignment which saw him stationed in Minsk.
Yigal Amir finished his army service in a combat unit and was sent to the Soviet Union by an intelligence branch of the Prime Minister's Office which saw him assigned to Riga.
Oswald returned to America and became an activist for a C.I.A. front called The Fair Play For Cuba Committee.
Amir returned to Israel and became an activist for a Shabak front called Eyal.
Oswald was inexplicably befriended by a C.I.A. operative, Guy Banister.
Amir made a new friend, the Shabak operative, Avishai Raviv.
Oswald made certain he appeared on television in a street debate over Cuba.
Amir made certain he appeared on television being taken away from an anti-peace process rally kicking and shouting.
It would have been so simple if an aggrieved radical had actually assassinated Rabin. No one would have suspected a thing. But Amir had deep ties to the very people who were charged with protecting the prime minister. They arranged a fake assassination by the fall guy and let the professional hit man do the real work of murder.
Amir and Rabin were not the only victims of the assassination branch of the Shabak. There were many others, both Jew and Arab. We can only hope that this book will help see that they were the last.

Yom Kippur at Sdot Yam
Kibbutz Sdot Yam
Today was Yom Kippur, so I begin to write on a "clean slate," beginning with synagogue services (2 1/2 hrs.) last night to usher in this holiest of Jewish days.
I mainly went for the experience, as well as spiritual solidarity with my people (God's Church & the Jews) around the world. I read & sang only about a tithe of the service - amazed that I could keep up in Hebrew I'd never read before.
With me were other ulpanistim [Hebrew students] who elected to fast - mainly, I believe, for the experience or test or show-off of will-power. God alone knows. I scanned the faces of all those assembled in the make-shift synagogue with mixed emotions and an alien distance. Tradition - even empty, hollow, shallow - has assisted Jewry to preserve this Day, however imperfectly; yet I also couldn't help but think of God & Kahane who might dismiss such "worship" as vain and such "devotions" as void. Liberal, Hellenist, humanists who have nothing to do with God and are ignorant of or deny His Word as a general rule, as hypocritical & unacceptable as professing Christianity on the pagan days of Christmas and Easter - temporarily becoming "religious" or sickly kind...Nevertheless, may we all ultimately worship the One True God and His Son, in spirit & in truth. G'mar hateemah tovah! [Be inscribed for good in the Book].
During this relatively easy fast today, I laid in bed & read & read The Good News magazine, meditated on life, my past, present and potential future. I prayed & asked for forgiveness and clarity of mind & purpose with patience to overcome sins and achieve success in this spiritual struggle, resolving to start again to abstain from alcohol and stop going to our kibbutz pub on erev Shabbat [Sabbath evening]. Today I really missed Church services and fellowship with the brethren, remembering our divine camaraderie.
My goals were to spend 3 wks. in Florida with Steve & Bob, also to change my name to David Ben-Ariel, 18 days in Europe with Mom & Lisa, make aliyah to Israel and join an ulpan (intensive Hebrew language course]. So far, so good. Now I must decide - God help me - to continue immediately the ulpan in ketah bet [class b - next level] somewhere, or temporarily suspend Hebrew to earn money on a moshav... Presently I'm reading Hannah Senesh - Her Life and Diaries. The first 50 pages I found so boring and forced myself to read what seemed like fabricated Jewish propaganda - the girl seemed too good to be true, nauseatingly a goody-two-shoes. Now I'm enjoying it more since she's mentioned historic events, like Hitler, etc.
I've wondered if perhaps the helplessness and hopelessness I've experienced in returning to God is part of His punishment to cause me to think twice before going astray again - not that He's ever forgotten or forsaken me, just letting me wallow for awhile in my own mire. Thank God I'm convinced of His Calling, Purpose & Interest in my life or I would have died ages ago. Mrs. Corpus once commented on how God had given me that gift of FAITH.
I must fulfill my personal destiny as a Son of Jerusalem, publish my poems, chart called PRIEST-KING - The Twin Pillars of Israel, & book THE GRAND DESIGN [since published as Beyond Babylon: Europe's Rise and Fall]. I must, Lord-willing, RESTORE our Jewish-Christian presence in Jerusalem & Israel, a significant since I'm of Bet David [House of David].
We received our first official rain the other day.
Hannah S. wrote: "When anyone in Hungary spoke of Zionism five or even 2 years ago, Jewish public opinion condemned him as a traitor of Hungary, laughed at him, considered him a mad visionary, and under no circumstances heard him out." Reminded me of how I too, subject to ridicule or suspicion, am a pioneer for God's Church here in the Mideast. Mr. Fiedler [one of my former ministers in the Worldwide Church of God] had said once about my "activist" activities (of writing to The Blade, my beliefs & actions) that I was so "unorthodox" - I countered so was Mr. Armstrong, and like him, would go it alone if necessary, convinced of the rightness of my convictions. Later, somewhat angry or frustrated, he said, "Why can't you just be like everyone else who goes to the Mideast for the Feast [of Tabernacles], is satisfied and returns? Why do you have to always make inroads?" I said what he called "inroads" I considered "open doors" that I never sought nor pushed open, but walked thru in faith, and that I simply believed what the Church taught, that I'm descended in part from Bet David & therefore choose to return to my ancient Homeland of the Jews - Israel. He said he was German but didn't feel he had to move to Germany. I said that was his prerogative.
Earlier, he & Mr. Gilbert [his associate pastor] gently cautioned me not to appear so Jewish that I'd give people a wrong impression of the Church - like saying Shabbat Shalom, etc. I thanked them for their concern, commented I was already aware of the need to be balanced, but also that God had used my understanding of the Mideast to become all things to Jews & Arabs, more so than others in the Congregation. Then when H.Q.'s forbade my Mideast Feast attendance indefinitely, fearing I might misrepresent the Church (as a flagrant homosexual) [due to one complaint about me during the Feast in Jordan that contradicted the biblical procedure of Matthew 18:15-17, as Mr. Gilbert noted], it further encouraged me to think a separation was due [like the US was driven to separate from England after a series of injustices], a different work to be accomplished [with a God-given focus on Jerusalem and the Jews].
Years before I was sent back home from Israel, strongly encouraged to do so, and was to await a minister resident in Israel to "supervise" my "activities." [Church elder Carl Fields commented to me, "Are they setting a precedent?"] I've waited 7 years, Grandpa has now died, I've received my inheritance, toured Europe and now, almost 30 (potentially significant), am living in Israel studying Hebrew! I have felt drawn to Israel, desire to become a part of this ancient but young nation's history, and fulfill, ultimately, my destiny in Jerusalem.

President Bush on Yom Kippur
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JTA, THE JERUSALEM POST Oct. 1, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In holiday greetings, President Bush said Jewish observance of Yom Kippur makes the world a more peaceful place.
"Yom Kippur is a solemn time to express thanksgiving that the Almighty remembers the names of all His children," said a White House statement issued in the name of the president and First Lady.
"During this blessed Day of Atonement, Jewish people gather in synagogues, consider their deeds and actions and celebrate as the sound of the Shofar proclaims the forgiveness and mercy shown by the Creator of life.
"As the High Holy Days come to an end, the Jewish people in America and around the world remind us of the gift of religious freedom and the blessings of God's steadfast love. On Yom Kippur and throughout the year, your deep commitment to faith helps make the world a more hopeful and peaceful place."
Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean, whose wife and children are Jewish, also issued greetings for the holy day. "My family and I ask all to join with the Jewish people to use this time as the beginning of a new era of peace and security," he said in a message.

President Bush would do well to note that not only Jews keep Yom Kippur but thousands of Christians faithfully observe the Day of Atonement. Perhaps one of his advisors could also inform him that the Festival of Tabernacles (Sukkot) and the Last Great Day (Shemini Atzeret) are on their way.

Pat Robertson fails to warn Christian pilgrims not to pray where Jesus prayed - upon the Temple Mount
I encourage every Christian to visit the Holy Land of Israel and urge every Jew to follow Judaism to the Jewish homeland. After all, the Prophets announce Jerusalem is destined to host the long-awaited "House of Prayer for all peoples." Bible believers trust the Third Temple is coming soon!
I encourage Israel to live up to the 1967 Law for the Protection of the Holy Places that guarantees FREEDOM OF ACCESS to religious sites for pilgrims - an access denied Christians and faithful Jews today! How can Christians pray where Jesus and his disciples, later apostles, both taught and prayed when the Israeli authorities aid and abet a Nazi-Muslim occupation of the Temple Mount that illegally forbids it? And why accuse those of us who highlight the plight of the Temple Mount, exposing this hypocrisy, of harboring dangerous ideas?
Jerusalem's abomination of desolation - a Temple Mount without a temple - and its deplorable status quo of religious discrimination by Muslim guards against Christians and Jews, against both the laws of God and men, must end! Israel must stop rewarding terrorism, shamefully cowering before Muslim threats of violence and REMOVE THE THREAT. It's past time the Israeli authorities practice what they preach: "freedom of access."

German pope's message for Jews
Germany and the Vatican have a grand design, coming together and emerging from its underground existence before our very eyes, of a German-dominated European Union, a revived "Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation," Germany's Fourth Reich, that has its evil eye on Jerusalem, especially Mount Zion and the Temple Mount.

Collaboration between Rome and Jerusalem?
The Chief Rabbinate already flirts with foreign occupation. Are there any other groups in Israel that couldn't care less who runs the state - UNJews or actual Gentiles - as long as they're free to worship and left alone to lead Jewish lives?
I hope and pray nobody trusts the German-dominated EU or the bloody Vatican, as Zechariah reveals such Roman wolves in sheep's clothing will brutally betray and occupy Jerusalem, expelling the entire Jewish Quarter, as Mount Zion is merely a stepping stone to the coveted Temple Mount.

Temple Institute: Listening to the Shofar: Hearing the Divine Breath of Life
Elul 11, 5766/September 4, 2006
parashat Ki Tavo
This month of Elul provides us with a spiritual moment in which to shed our worldly pretensions and vanities, and simply be ourselves. For our essential and simple inner self is what G-d truly desires as He sets out from His distant abode, as it were, and seeks us out now in the month of Elul. Preparing for the judgment of all mankind is not so much a matter of taking on vows of self improvement as it is stripping ourselves of all the dross and illusion of self-importance in which we envelope ourselves throughout the days of the year.
Rosh Hashana marks the completion of the process of creation of all existence with the birth of Adam Harishon - the first man. Having created the parameters of His kingdom, G-d now breaths the breath of life into Man - His subject. And as the descendants of the first Man, we are all His subjects, and no day is more propitious for recognizing G-d's sovereignty over us all than Rosh Hashana, the day of our birth. And only once we have recognized G-d's role as our creator and our Sovereign are we able to take upon ourselves the awesome task of repentance.
G-d draws near to us in this month of Elul, (the King is in the field), and we in return draw near to Him as we stand before Him on Rosh Hashana. The purity of this intimacy can be seen in the Hebrew letter yod which is associated with the month of Elul. The smallest and simplest of all the letters of the Hebrew alphabet, the yod represents that small, still pure, still unspoiled spot within us that connects us to the Divine. Similarly, the Rosh Hashana service focuses on the single commandment to hear the sound of the blowing of the shofar. For the voice of the shofar is the voice within us, the very breath of life which G-d has breathed into us. By hearing the shofar we are reliving our own birth as Adam on the sixth day of creation. We are literally inspired to renew and refresh our life-bond with our Creator.

THE JERUSALEM DECLARATION ON CHRISTIAN ZIONISM
signed by
His Beattitude Patriarch Michel Sabbah
Latin Patriarchate, Jerusalem
Archbishop Swerios Malki Mourad,
Syrian Orthodox Patriarchate, Jerusalem
Bishop Riah Abu El-Assal,
Episcopal Church of Jerusalem and the Middle East
Bishop Munib Younan,
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land
This demonic document - the declaration of war against Christian Zionists - ought to be used as evidence by Israel to expel such sworn Arab enemies from the Holy Land. They clearly represent treacherous interests and misrepresent the REAL Jesus with their murderous hatred against Jews, the Promised Land of ISRAEL - the Jewish Homeland - and those Christian Zionists who know how the bloody RCC aids and abets terrorists instead of supporting God’s Word and Will.
What is so ironic is that the Vatican will soon “inspire” the German-Jesuit Europe to wage war against Islam, wielding their dark power and influence over Germany (who dominates Europe). The EU will repel the crescent with the cross.

Introduction
Beyond Babylon
Chapter One
Survival Guaranteed!
The DEVASTATION unleashed against America and her British allies was without precedent. Destruction was everywhere and a body count impossible. The catastrophe was beyond calculation.
Europe - gripped with a messianic furor - justified this mass destruction of the body to "save the soul." Besides, they had the blessing of the pope. His white robes were stained with the blood of many martyrs.
Beyond Babylon
Chapter 2
Why National Defeat?
Why are we in mortal danger? Why will the American, British and Jewish people SUFFER national defeat? How could Europe ever turn against us?
Beyond Babylon
Chapter 3
Truth or Consequences
As global tensions increase, and threats of confrontation escalate, we might very well wonder whether humanity will survive. Unless there’s a GOD to intervene, we have a bleak future indeed: a DEAD PLANET! Will earth become a nuclear fireball? Will charred bones - aftermath of unleashed atomic fires - and the smoldering ruins of a suicidal civilization be all that’s left?
Beyond Babylon
Chapter 4
Victims of Tradition
Whenever our behavior gets out of control, God lets us loose control! When we’re held hostage to bad habits, and refuse to let them go, we go into captivity! A national lack of discipline results in God sending corrective punishment! Then we wake up and get with it, and beg God to save us. The whole purpose is to bring us to our knees and senses.
Beyond Babylon
Chapter 5
Europe's Fate
What’s going to happen to Europe? We know what’s going to happen to the American and British peoples, as well as to our Jewish brethren. The coming WORLD CRISIS is prophesied to fall especially hard on them. Why?
Beyond Babylon
Chapter 6
Jesus and the Jews
Why don't the Jews accept Jesus?" I've been asked that so many times. My usual reply? "Why haven't the Christians?" At least the Jews are waiting for the proper imperial restoration. The Messiah's coming to sit on DAVID'S THRONE - not Caesar's or "St. Peter's." The Anointed One's going to rule from JERUSALEM - not Rome!
Beyond Babylon
Chapter 7
Elijah's Key Role
Israel's about to host the greatest showdown on earth! A spiritual conflict of interests will create such a scene in Jerusalem that the whole world will watch! Zion will be an arena of prophets and sorcerers, warriors and kings! The forces of good and evil are set to duel: the sons of light will battle the sons of darkness, and truth will confront error head-on!

British-Israelites and Jews in grave danger
Our Great Creator God, the God of Jacob-Israel, is removing His protective shield from our borders and our lands will soon be ravaged by both the weather and men, but God in His mercy, in His patience, has permitted us a grace period that is about to end. We have been suffering the consequences of sin and such divine punishment will only intensify and escalate, as we demand, to drive the message home (Daniel 9:11).
Many will find themselves homeless due to famine and destruction, and if we remain proud and stubborn and refuse to hear and heed and save ourselves, we'll suffer greater destruction, leading to our defeat and deportation, conquered by the fascist EU under German-Jesuit influence. America will be homeless. The British Commonwealth will be homeless. Israel will be homeless. We'll have been exiled from our God-given Garden of Eden. The choice is ours. God help us to make the right choice and do the right thing and CHOOSE LIFE! (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Daniel 9:11
11 Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against Him.
Malachi 4:4
4 “ Remember the Law of Moses, My servant,
Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,
With the statutes and judgments.
2 Chronicles 7:14
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Israeli Jews must reclaim Holy Land occupied by Roman Catholics
In light of the Vatican's recent outburst, venomous against Israel and those who prefer it to an accursed "Palestine," Israel would be wise to reclaim those areas of the Holy Land of Israel that "Edom" presently occupies and restore them to proper Jewish hands. Why should the Israelis permit such sworn enemies to have a foothold in Jerusalem upon Mount Zion (or anywhere in the Jewish Homeland) with their evil eye upon the Temple Mount?
Israel must demand the return of the Temple treasures the Vatican holds hostage and investigate Shimon Peres' collaboration with the Germans and Jesuits against Yitzhak Rabin and Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem.

Olmert and Bibi failed to secure Temple Mount for Jewish worship
Former Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert accused the government and Attorney General of FAILING TO PROTECT JEWISH RIGHTS UPON THE TEMPLE MOUNT and were permitting the Muslims to build another mosque there. "Priceless archaeological treasures are being destroyed in the process," Olmert was quoted by Israel Radio. A municipal official who wanted to see the site was turned back by police. So law-abiding officials are turned away from the Temple Mount while Muslim criminals flout the law and foxes run free?
Benjamin Netanyahu:
"The right of the Jewish people to its holy place - the Temple Mount - cannot be questioned...I believe it is necessary to arrange for Jewish prayer on the site, especially given that we permit freedom of worship to all the religions in Jerusalem...". And his office charged Palestinian officials with "disparaging Jewish holy sites and threatening potential worshippers" (in flagrant violation of Israel's 1967 Law for the Protection of the Holy Places and the Oslo Accords). His deputy director of communications, Michael Freund, responded to the PA mufti's declaration of war (that Jews "...must absolutely forget about having any rights over the Temple Mount...the Western Wall is just a fence belonging to a Muslim holy site") by saying "these statements are repugnant and they betray a contempt for Judaism's most sacred sites and beliefs. They are an affront to history and insulting to Jews everywhere."

Shimon Peres plots with Rome to finish off Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem
The UNJews, the secular, are so out of touch with reality, with God, Torah and the Land and People of Israel, they're in denial they're slitting their own throat and undermining the sovereignty of Israel by wheeling and dealing with terrorists and Euro-Nazis, who are pretending to make peace while preparing for war. Such Hellenists will find out too late when the European Antiochus Epiphanes reveals what a brute beast, not a peacemaker, he is, and physically detaches many from the Land they hate and despise and people they hold in contempt.
Even as Yitzhak Rabin's part in the staged assassination plot to discredit the Right backfired, taking his life in the "peace process," so the bloody vulture Shimon Peres and criminal company's treachery will find themselves unable to escape the tsunami of the unholy See that will release its EU forces upon the Holy Land and Holy City.
Excerpt from Did Rabin Know? by Uzi Benziman, a senior columnist at the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz:
"Did Rabin himself sanction Avishai Raviv's employment as a Shin Bet informer? To what extent was the prime minister aware of the double agent's incitement against him?
The key sentence in the secret appendix is: "His (Raviv's) incitement, especially where it involved physical acts of violence against Arabs, and where it drew the public's attention to the existence of violent and extremist political groups, was indirectly damaging to well-known legal political groups. His operators could not have overlooked this fact." What this means is that Raviv's acts of extremist incitement affected the public perception of the entire right-wing camp, including the Likud, and also furnished fuel for the left-wing counterattack before Rabin's murder.
This conclusion leads one to ask a question that is so horrific that it is in fact difficult to put down on paper. Was Yitzhak Rabin, who paid with his own life for the brave peace policy he pursued, a victim of his own actions? In the past, his close associates used to rail against the disdain with which he entertained their warnings of possible risks to his physical safety, but now a different question arises. Was he a party, knowingly or not, to Raviv's incitement activities? Did he continue to respond to incitement from the right even when he knew that it was stoked, or at least partially so, by the provocative acts of undercover agent Avishai Raviv? And if this is the case, did Rabin do so because it gave him a casus belli to flay his political adversaries?"
The truth will prevail. THE LEFT MURDERED YITZHAK RABIN AND BLAMED THE RIGHT AND NOW IT'S COMING BACK TO HAUNT THEM.
Shimon Peres Came to Power Over Rabin's Dead Body and now aims to return to finish off Israel, collaborating with Germany and the Jesuits, the bloody Vatican, against the Temple Mount, Mt. Zion, and Jerusalem.

The Grandest Mitzvah of Them All Faces Total Blackout
Weekly Parsha Commentary by Binyamin Zev Kahane www.kahane.org
Translated by Lenny Goldberg
It seems as if every year when Parshat Teruma rolls around, rabbis all over the world become hard-pressed for their sermons. Sermons, after all, must be "relevant for our times". And what could be less relevant for our times than the laws of the Temple, sacrifices, and ritual purity? One third of all the mitzvot of the Torah are dependent upon the building of the Temple, yet this mitzvah is absolutely ignored by so many religious Jews.
Yes, there is such a mitzvah, and this Shabbat we read it: "and they small make a Temple; that I may dwell among them." A positive commandment that is emphasized no less than laying tefilin or eating matzoh on Passover.
Waiting for Messiah
One of the leading arguments preventing Jews from taking this commandment seriously is that we must wait for the Messiah first. In other words, the mitzvah of building the Temple is not incumbent upon us, but rather upon Messiah. Is this really so? Let us take a look at the words of the Rambam at the very beginning of Hilchot Bait HaBechirah: "It is a positive commandment to construct a House for God, prepared for sacrifices to be offered within. We (must) celebrate there three times a year as it is written, 'and you shall make me a Temple'." Is the Rambam limiting this mitzvah to Messiah? No. No one in their right mind can take this mitzvah, or any other mitzvah for that matter, and claim that the Messiah has some kind of exclusivity over it. The mitzvot were given so that the Jewish People can fulfill them, and God forbid we dismiss ourselves from even one mitzvah by passing it on to someone else, no matter how great that someone might be.
But at the end of Hilchot Milachim, the Rambam writes: "The Messiah will eventually arise... and build the Temple in its place and gather the dispersed of Israel". This is an apparent contradiction to the Rambam's own words in Hilchot Bait Habechirah. The fact is, there is no contradiction. In Hilchot Milachim the Rambam does not tell us that it must be that the Messiah build the Temple, but rather that if it is not already built (either because of the Jewish People's criminal negligence, or because the redemption will come so swiftly that we will not have time to build it - this being an irrelevant scenario in our times), then he will build it. Other commentators explain that Messiah will build the Temple according to the futuristic plans outlined in the Book of Ezekhiel, since the description is incomprehensible to us, and we, until then, should build the Temple according to the designs of the Second Temple. But most important are the words of the Kesef Mishnah(who is Yosef Kairo, the author of the Shulchan Aruch) who comments on the Rambam's writings in Hilchot Milachim: "This chapter and the one after (which deals with the subject of Messiah) is to strengthen the faith about the coming of Messiah, and one should not draw halachic conclusions from it."
If one is not yet convinced, here are the words of the Rambam in "Egeret from Yemen": "The mitzvot (all of them) do not depend on the coming of Messiah, but rather we are obligated to immerse ourselves in Torah and mitzvot and try to perform them to perfection, and after doing what we have been obligated to do, if God allows us, or our children, or our children's children to merit to see Messiah, all the better. And if not, we have not lost a thing, but rather we benefited by doing what we were obligated to do."
The Temple Coming Down From the Heavens
The second argument against building the Temple today dismisses even the Messiah from taking action. We are taking about the argument that the Third Temple will come down from the heavens, ready and built. First of all, simply put, such an approach automatically cancels many of the 613 mitzvot given by the Torah! In addition, since when do we rely on Aggadic sources to determine halachic matters? It must be understood that when a midrash or Aggadic source mentions a Third Temple coming down from the sky, it is not teaching us the practical ("LaMayse") or operational aspect of the mitzvah, but rather comes to convey to us an idea that goes beyond the "dry" halacha. Most sages explain that the idea intended here is that once we start to build the Temple (notice how they weren't so quick to give up on such an important mitzvah), G-d will bring down His Divine Presence upon it. The "Third Temple In the Heavens" represents the spiritual aspect of the physical Temple down on earth. This same concept of a Temple above to coincide with the Temple below is also mentioned in Aggadic sources concerning the building of the Tabernacle by Moses, and after the construction of the first Temple by Solomon.
Bringing 200 Mitzvot Back to Life
Perhaps it would not be so bad if our inactivity and lack of awareness to fulfill this mitzvah caused the Temple Mount to stand empty. But that is not the case. In the absence of Jewish presence there is Muslim occupation of the site. The vacuum created by lack of sanctification of G-d's Name has been filled by a terrible desecration of God's Name. Jews go to the "Kotel" and ignore the Muslim domes above their heads and are oblivious to the wailing of the jackals that blare from the loudspeakers five times a day.
Every generation is obligated to build the Holy Temple (see Ohr HaChayim" on the verse, "and they shall make a temple...") and the conquest of the Temple Mount 28 years ago gives our generation an unprecedented opportunity to fulfill the mitzvah. It still is not too late.

Strangers in our own Land?
Rabbi Friedman and his wife Janet are among the original founders of Kochav HaShachar, a Jewish Pioneering Community in the Israelite Tribal Territory of Eretz Binyamin (Land of Benjamin), located in what is today known as the Shomron (Samaria).
22 Av, 5766 (August 17, 2005)
David,
I just thought of you being banned from Israel in juxtaposition with my son-in-law, Yehoyariv Maguri, who built a house for himself, his wife (my daughter) Esther and baby son Avraham on the hilltop of Givat Ronen near Har Bracha in the Shomron.
A couple of months ago he received an administrative order signed by Defense Minister Peretz banning him from entering the entire area of Judea and Samaria (with the exception of the city of Ma'ale Adumim).
Yehoyariv is a young man from a Yemenite family, a Cohen with an ancient lineage, who is connected to the bedrock of his being with the land of Israel, Jewish labor, growing things on, walking the land as a free Jew. For him the deep connection to the land transcends the bureaucratic statements of government officials about where the borders are to be and which foreign leader's boots we are meant to lick this week. The land, the people and Torah of Israel are eternal.
May G-d protect him, his family and all of us.
Yehoshua
Shalom Yehoshua,
Your son-in-law, Yehoyariv Maguri, sounds like a wonderful person to whom I can relate with his great love for God, klal Yisrael and THE LAND. Perhaps it's from being raised for the first 11 years of my life on a farm that I wholeheartedly love the land, and which is why I wanted to live throughout the Land on 8 different kibbutzim to truly get a feel for the Land, to see the sun, moon and stars from different regions of Eretz Yisrael that God has placed in their positions.
Your heartrending tale further shows how the secular government persecutes the righteous, even the Cohanim, and would restrict movement in the Jewish Homeland like the worst of the Gentiles.
May HaShem continue to bless your family, your son-in-law, Yehoyariv, your daughter Esther and baby grandson Avraham and bless me to soon meet them!
David
Psalm 102:11-17
11 My days are like a shadow that lengthens,
And I wither away like grass.
12 But You, O LORD, shall endure forever,
And the remembrance of Your name to all generations.
13 You will arise and have mercy on Zion;
For the time to favor her,
Yes, the set time, has come.
14 For Your servants take pleasure in her stones,
And show favor to her dust.
15 So the nations shall fear the name of the LORD,
And all the kings of the earth Your glory.
16 For the LORD shall build up Zion;
He shall appear in His glory.
17 He shall regard the prayer of the destitute,
And shall not despise their prayer.

Ehud Olmert & Kadima must go!
by Naomi Ragen
We finished a quiet Sabbath in the relative safety of
Jerusalem, only to check the news and find out the
heartbreaking news that seven more Israeli soldiers have
been killed and eight-four injured in the worst-led war in Israel's history.
In addition, the government who interfered with the
military (i.e.go win the war without upsetting CNN and the
BBC), imposing guidelines that have helped get not only our
boys killed left and right, but our civilians as well, has
now decided to accept a Security Council resolution which
ensures that Israel's soldiers and her people have made
their ultimate sacrifice for nothing: our kidnapped soldiers
will not be returned. Hezbollah will not be disarmed. And
Israeli forces will be replaced by some U.N. force and a
bunch of European anti-Semites who will allow Hezbollah to
rearm.
The full text of the resolution has been published in YNET.
So far, 1,784 Israelis have responded. The overwhelming
majority have this to say:
We went to war to free our kidnapped soldiers. Why aren't
they mentioned?
For shame.
Olmert, Peretz, Halutz, the triumvirate of losers.
Let me add this: Mr. Olmert, Mr. Peretz, Mr. Halutz: You
have squandered the lives of our soldiers. You have
squandered our opportunity to free the nation of Israel from
a deadly enemy. You have set the stage for the next war.
By September, we will be under attack once more. Do the
decent thing: Resign, all of you, and let Mr. Netanyahu,
General Alon (who was kicked out because he
refused to go along with the disengagement) take over.
Resign Mr. Olmert. Resign in shame for your incompetence.
Your inability to carry out a single one of the objectives
you so stirringly announced at the beginning of this war.
With all of you and your incompetent Kadima-led government out of
office, we will all be safer and better prepared when the
rockets start to fall once again, as they inevitably will
with the U.N. and the French guarding our borders.
And if you won't do the honorable thing, we will do
everything we can to get you fired. You make me sick. I am
ashamed to be a citizen of my country under your
leadership. I am appalled to have a son in the IDF under
your leadership. For shame, for shame, for shame!
****************************************************
The kapo Ehud Olmert, and his corrupt Kadima cabinet of traitors, bought and paid for by Euro-Nazis, must go or Israel will.
The bloody vulture Shimon Peres (who has gotten away with murder), waits in the wings, ready to clutch power in his unclean talons.
Israel must make sure Shimon Peres, that false prophet of a lying vision of peace, is removed from office also (and brought to justice) or they will have brought a greater evil to power, the Vatican puppet, and will rue the day when Jerusalem falls as a direct result.

Temple Mount Institute: Avoiding the Snare
"And you shalt consume all the peoples that the L-rd your G-d shall deliver unto you; your eye shall not pity them; neither shall you serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto you."
Deuteronomy 7:16
Av 15, 5766/August 9, 2006
When confronted with a life or death decision, it is incumbent upon us to act decisively and morally. To be indecisive or to hesitate, to be passive rather than to act, can be both immoral and deadly. Today Israel is waging war against an implacable enemy, an enemy which worships at an altar of hatred and destruction, and which will be satisfied with nothing less than the total annihilation of the state of Israel, the genocide of the Jewish people, and the obliteration of the Torah of Israel from the face of the earth. When facing such an enemy, each soldier of the army of Israel needs to be armed with a clear and uncompromising understanding of his responsibility to himself, his nation, and all humankind. We are taught by our sages that one is required to die as a martyr rather than to murder. Yet, to cut down an enemy in battle is not murder, but the prevention of murder. Even when that enemy places himself among "innocent" civilians. Even when those "innocents" are women and children. To refrain from pursuing the enemy because of these extenuating circumstances is not an act of moral deliberation. It is an act of confusion, perhaps even cowardice. Torah makes it clear that an enemy is to be pursued mercilessly. The ungodly "moral dilemma" cooked up by the enemy, practitioners of a cynical death cult, is to be treated with contempt. To spare a murderer, even at the risk of killing an innocent child, is to allow and to encourage him to continue to murder and to murder and to murder. To concede to the rules that the terrorists would have us play by, is to become ensnared in trap both deadly and immoral. As much as we hate to see our sons and friends confronted with such decisions, the stern warning which the Torah delivers in this week's reading, Ekev, (Deuteronomy 7:12 - 11:25) leaves no room for moral equivocation.
The Torah places a supreme value on human life. Indeed, we are commanded to "choose life." An appreciation of all living things is essential to an understanding of the inner meaning of the Divine service at the Holy Temple. The everyday mitzvot with which we preoccupy ourselves are a celebration of life. One particular day in which the celebration of life as a heavenly gift to be both appreciated and embraced, is Tu B'Av - the 15th day of the month of Av. Considered a minor holiday by Jewish tradition, it is nevertheless one of the most sublime occasions on the Hebrew calendar. Tu B'Av is a day of brotherly love, where common daily distinctions are dropped, and all be come equal. As brothers in peace and unity we become fit for our most sacred task and ultimate destiny - to become partners to the Holy One Himself, Creator of the universe.
To learn more about Torah teachings concerning the morality of war, and to gain insight into the joyful life embracing spirit of Tu B'Av, listen to the week's broadcast of Temple Talk.
The August 10th episode of Rabbi Chaim Richman's Light to the Nations new weekly half-hour online television Torah study series will focus on Insights into the makeup of the commandment concerning building the Holy Temple. Jews bow before Nazi-Muslim pressure
13:23 Aug 04, '06 / 10 Av 5766
by Ezra HaLevi

Despite a Supreme Court decision, Jerusalem's Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site, was closed to Jews on the Fast of Tisha B'Av, which mourns the destruction of the Holy Temple.

Temple Institute: The Ninth of Av
"'Let me go over, I pray Thee, and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon.'"
Deuteronomy 3:25
Av 8, 5766/August 2, 2006
Moshe rabbeinu - Moses our master - who selflessly devoted his entire life to the physical and spiritual well being of the Israelite nation, had but one wish before he died: "let me enter the land and see that goodly mountain: the Lebanon." These are the words that open this week's Torah reading, Ve'etchanan, (Deuteronomy 3:23 - 7:11). What is the meaning of this cryptic reference to Lebanon? We know that the Torah refers to the land north of the land of Israel as Lebanon, the very same land of the cedars in which Israel today is battling the terrorists vipers of Hezbollah. Is Moses asking for entrance into the promised land simply to gain access to Lebanon in the north?
This is certainly not the case as a familiarity with the ancient Hebrew scriptures readily proves. The word Lebanon, or levanon in Hebrew is from the Hebrew root lavan, meaning "white." It is used frequently throughout the twenty four books of Tanach - the Hebrew scriptures - as a reference to the Holy Temple! Our sages point out that our transgressions are whitened through the Divine service and prayer at the Holy Temple. In fact, a main ingredient of the incense offering at the golden altar is levonah - frankincense - from the same Hebrew root - lavan. Within the word lavan itself is another Hebrew word - lev - heart. For the Holy Temple - and the "goodly mountain" - Mount Moriah - upon which it stands, is the heart of all humanity, and the place toward which all who wish to serve the G-d of Israel turn their hearts. Beseeching G-d that he may enter the land and see the Levanon - the Holy Temple - is therefore no minor request on Moses' behalf. Moses too wants to be of the generation whose hands and hearts build the Holy Temple - and whose eyes can behold the fulfillment of the divine commandment first received by Moses and the children of Israel in the desert: "Build for me a sanctuary, that I may dwell amongst you." (Exodus 25:8)
Today, as we approach the fast of the 9th of Av, the day commemorating the destruction of the Holy Temple, the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces are fighting a vicious unscrupulous enemy in the Lebanon of the north, Likewise, our hearts are turned in prayer, in remembrance, and in determination, to the Lebanon atop "that goodly mountain" - Mount Moriah, Jerusalem, the place of the Holy Temple.
To learn more about Tish'a B'Av - the 9th of Av, how it is observed and what it means for the Jewish nation, and for the entire world, please listen to the week's Temple Talk, with Rabbi Chaim Richman and Yitzchak Reuven.
The fast of Tish'a B'Av begins on the evening of August 2nd just before sundown, and concludes on August 3rd after the sun has set and the stars appear. August 3rd is the premier of The Temple Institute's new weekly online video webcast, Light to the Nations, with Rabbi Chaim Richman. The opening half-hour long webcast will focus on Tish'a B'Av and the Holy Temple. To learn more about Light to the Nations and to access the show, please click here.
"Thus says the L-rd of hosts: 'The fasts of the fourth fifth [Tish'a B'Av], seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace.'" (Zechariah 8:19)
May all who seek G-d's truth approach as one "that goodly mountain," and "build for [Him] a sanctuary, that [he] may dwell amongst [us]..." Loving truth and pursuing it, may we be blessed with peace.

Jews Must Demand Rights to Temple Mount
I had expressed the frustration we (the Temple Mount Faithful and thankfully, now, many others) feel when we follow the law, receive the necessary police permits for our legal demonstrations, and even obtain written Supreme Court approval of our actions, only to be denied "freedom of access" to our most holy site, the Temple Mount, and to be harshly treated with contempt for even trying to exercise our democratic rights!
I asked Deputy Attorney General Rakover why the Israeli government was, in effect, encouraging folks to act outside of the law (which they know we've never done, unlike other groups who feel why bother wasting your time trying to reason with corrupt officials), as well as rewarding militant Muslims for their terrorist threats of riots and violence (if Israel were to actually uphold their 1967 law that guarantees - in writing - "freedom of access" to the Temple Mount) and bizarrely punishing law-abiding people by denying them entry to the Temple Mount. Why not remove the threat? Isn't that logical? Isn't that legal?
Professor Nahum Rakover basically said that we're in this situation today because NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE WANT TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT to that religious site - the Temple Mount! Why should Israel change the status quo when they're not under any pressure to do so? It's been said politicians don't see the light until they feel the heat. Shame on us! As I've written in a letter published in the Jerusalem Post, the Temple Mount isn't in our hands, because it's not in our hearts and minds.
I was later unjustly deported for highlighting the plight of the Temple Mount under Nazi-Muslim occupation within an article published throughout Jerusalem and Israel, calling for the restoration of the Temple Mount as the Temple Mount - a House of Prayer for All Peoples - which the High Court of Israel dismissed as dangerous ideas.
Why should Jews continue to pray at the Western Wall, a site designated by the Turks for Jewish worship instead of the Temple Mount, and continue to submit to such a Gentile decree rather than obey the biblical command to ascend the Temple Mount?
Why obey men over God? Isn't that idolatry? Isn't that immoral? Isn't God Israel's King, Israel's only Husband? Who are the nations to dictate what God's wife should do?
Why are Jews gathering at the pitiful Western Wall to mourn the destruction of the Temple? Do something constructive and DEMAND Jewish legal and biblical rights to the Temple Mount.
Thankfully, the Third Temple is coming soon!

YERUSHALIYIM, Israelite Tribal Territories of Judah and Benjamin, Kingdom of David and Solomon, United Israelite Kingdom of Judah and Joseph, Erev Tish B'Av (Eve of the Fast of the Ninth of Av), Yom Revi'i, 8 Av, 5766 (Wednesday, August 2, 2006), Root & Branch Information Services [mailto:rb@rb.org.il] [www.rb.org.il]:
WE REMEMBER
Today, on the Ninth of Av, we REMEMBER the destruction of the First and Second Temples of Jerusalem, the Assyrian, Babylonian and Roman exiles, European Catholic Crusades, Spanish and Portuguese Catholic Inquisitions, Ukrainian Chmelnitzki massacres, Nazi German Jewish Genocide (Holocaust), the current Rosh HaShanah War/Philistine Chaos ["Palestine Authority"] Pogrom, and other tragedies that befell and are befalling the Jewish People.
We chant the words of the Book of Eicha (Lamentations), which begin:
"How does the city [Jerusalem] sit solitary, that was full of people!
How isse become as a widow! She that was great among the nations,
and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!"
[Eicha/Lamentations 1:1]
WE LOOK FORWARD
Today, on the Ninth of Av, we also LOOK FORWARD to the fulfillment of the words of the Prophet Zechariah:
"And the word of the Lord of Hosts came to me, saying:
Thus says the Lord of Hosts: The fast of the FOURTH month,
And the fast of the FIFTH, and the fast of the SEVENTH,
And the fast of the TENTH, shall be to the House of Judah joy and gladness,
And cheerful seasons; therefore love you truth and peace'".
[Zechariah 8:19]
Our sages explain that "the fast of the fifth" month "is the Ninth of Av, when the Temple was burnt":
[Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Rosh HaShanah 18b].
"Metzudath David explains that this prophesy [from Zechariah] is for the future, when the above fast days observed by the House of Judah will be joyous occasions for Judah. The House of Israel [Lost Ten Tribes], however, will have its own festivals commemorating the days Israel fasted and mourned".
["The Book of the Twelve Prophets", Judaica Press, page 357]
REESTABLISHMENT OF THE ISRAELITE BIBLICAL COMMONWEALTH
We look forward to the building of the Third and Final Bet HaMikdash (Temple) of Yerushaliyim and the reestablishment of a Torah-based government with its three branches: the Sanhedrin (Judicial Branch), Priesthood (Legislative Branch) and Davidic Monarchy (Executive Branch), all of which will have their offices on the Har HaBayit (Temple Mount) at the Bet HaMikdash (Temple) of Yerushaliyim.
FOUNDING OF THE AMERICAN BIBLICAL COMMONWEALTH
The Founding Fathers of the United States built the American Biblical Commonwealth on the model of the Ancient Israelite Commonwealth.
For America's Founding Fathers, the Constitution was their Written Torah, Capitol Hill was their Har HaBayit (Temple Mount), the Capitol Building was their Bet HaMikdash (Temple), the Supreme Court (Judicial Branch) was their Sanhedrin, the Congress (Legislative Branch) was their Priesthood, and the Presidency (Executive Branch) was their equivalent of the Davidic Monarchy (George Washington wisely declined the offer to make him first King of the new United States).
The UNPRECEDENTED economic, political, and military power with which the United States has been blessed, rests SOLELY on the basis of that SPIRITUAL POWER with which America's Founding Fathers infused the new nation, and which has been the heritage of millions of Bible-believing Americans for almost four hundred years, since the Puritan Pilgrim Fathers first set foot in the new land.
NO SUBSTITUTE FOR AMERICAN FAITH IN THE G-D OF ISRAEL
America must NEVER substitute for faith in the G-d of Israel, that faith which has sustained this great Bible-bae nation for almost four hundred years, a faith in the false, pagan gods of economic, political and military power -- THE gods of OIL -- as it has been counseled to do, for over fifty years since the establishment of the State of Israel, by America's false prophets, modern day equivalents of the false prophets of the Egyptian Pharaoh and those of the Babylonian Nebuchadnezzar.
America is sustained ENTIRELY by its spiritual oil wells which are found in the G-d of Israel, Who has brought the Children of Israel back to the Land of Israel. Those spiritual oil wells will ONLY be found in the Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount of Yerushaliyim itself, NOT in the deserts of Arabia or the Persian Gulf.
AN AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY FOR AMERICA
America MUST move from the "even-handed" approach that has characterized its foreign policy towards Israel for over 50 years to a policy of UNCONDITIONAL, ABSOLUTE, NO-ANDS-IFS-OR-BUTS SUPPORT for heChildren of Israel in ALL of the Land of Israel.
This new foreign policy, an "American Foreign Policy for America", as one commentator calls it, must be based on American recognition of the Covenants: G-d's Noahide Covenant and Laws for all humanity and G-d's Three Covenants with Israel:
The PEOPLE Covenant (G-d chose the Children of Israel to be His People)
The TORAH Covenant (G-d gave His Torah to the Children of Israel)
The LAND Covenant (G-d gave the Land of Israel to the Children of Israel)
America's Founding Fathers believed in G-d. They feared G-d and respected His Covenants. Tragically, far too many of the Founding Fathers' descendents, who may be found among today's ruling American "elites", have forgotten them.
THOSE WHO FORGOT THE G-D OF AMERICA'S FOUNDING FATHERS
United States President Bush is this moment being advised by his own father, and his father's "friends", to forget the G-d of Their Fathers, who was the G-d of the Founding Fathers of America. That is the G-d of Israel.
If this process of forgetting happens, if America's false prophets will now convince the American President of today to be like the Egyptian Pharaoh of old -- "Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who knew not Joseph" [Shemot/Exodus 1:8] -- this will not only bring more suffering to the Children of Israel in the Land of Israel. It will bring suffering to Americans, in America, as well.
SEVEN YEAR SHMITTAH (SABBATICAL YEAR) CYCLES OF THE OSLO DEATH PROCESS
We, the Children of Israel, have suffered enough during the First Seven Year Shmittah (Sabbatical Year) Cycle of the Oslo Death Process (1993-2000).
We are now suffering even more as we proceed into the Second Seven Year Shmitth
If the above mentioned process of forgetting the G-d of Israel in America happens (much of the rest of the world has long ago forgotten, assuming they ever remembered Him in the first place), NO NATION that oppresses Israel, or stands by while others oppress Israel, may consider itself safe from the scourges of biological, chemical and nuclear warfare; global warming, unprecedented plagues, famines, droughts, earthquakes, floods; city-killer size asteroids, meteorites and comets; social and political upheavals.
Not even America.
The nations of this world can have all the G-8 meetings they want at any local Seven Eleven, and U.N. meetings, such as the upcoming one to consider whether or not "Zionism is racism", while marching to Pretoria. It makes no difference whether these meetings will be held in a South African shantytown, "Third World" slum, or "First World" metroplis.
These nations would be well advised to heed the words of the Prophet Jeremiah, who proclaimed:
"Israel is the Lord's hallowed portion,
His first-fruits of the increase;
All that devour him shall be held guilty,
EVIL shall come on them, says the Lord".
[Yirmiyahu/Jeremiah 2:3]
FLOODS BY WATER, FLOODS BY FIRE
The last flood was by water. The next flood may be by (nuclear) fire. Israel is Noah's Ark in the coming flood. That is: the G-d of Israel spiritually, and the Land of Israel physically.
Every Jewish community outside of the Land of Israel is a Dunkirk waiting to be evacuated.
Those who are wise among the Children of Israel will pack their bags and come home NOW.
Those who are wise among the Gentiles will come quickly over to the winning side, which is the side of the G-d of Israel and His People, the Children of Israel.
"And the idols shall utterly pass away.
And men shall go into the caves of the rocks,
And into the holes of the earth,
From before the terror of the Lord,
And from the gloryf His majesty.
When He arises to shake mightily the earth.
In that day a man shall cast away
His idols of silver, and his idols of gold,
Which they made for themselves to worship,
To the moles and to the bats;
To go into the clefts of the rocks,
And into the crevices of the crags,
From before the terror of the Lord,
And from the glory of His majesty.
When He arises to shake mightily the earth.
Cease you from man, in whose nostrils in a breath;
For how little is he to be accounted!"
[Yeshiyahu/Isaiah 2:18-22]
