Update from the Temple Institute

Kislev 6, 5766/December 6, 2005

Kislev is known as the month of dreams. Most of the Biblical portions that deal with dreams (i.e. Jacob's, Joseph's and Pharaoh's) are read during this month. And the Temple Mount is the place where dreams come true: the dream of humanity, to emulate G-d and connect with Him, and – as it were – the "dream" of G-d, to have a place on earth in which to dwell amongst mankind. In this week's Torah portion of VaYetze (Gen. 28:10 – 32:3), the patriarch Jacob lays down at the site of the Holy Temple and has a dream in which he sees angels ascending and descending a ladder that reaches into heaven. In the morning he wakes up and anoints the foundation stone of creation, continuing the path of Divine service begun by his fathers and effectively dedicating the cornerstone of the future Holy Temple.

On this week's edition of Israel National Radio's new expanded, 2 hour weekly Temple Talk program, Rabbi Chaim Richman and Yitzchak Reuven discuss these and many other dimensions of Torah study. These beautiful concepts and aspects of Torah wisdom relate not only to the Jewish people, but to all mankind, to all those who cherish the truth of the G-d of Israel.

Temple Talk can be heard or downloaded and saved from our Multimedia page. Live listeners to the show on Mondays now have the opportunity to communicate with the program's hosts directly during the broadcasts, to comment or pose questions. We would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that with G-d's help, within days of this writing the newly-completed Blue Robe for the High Priest will be on display for all to see at the Temple Institute's exhibition hall in Jerusalem. We will also post pictures of the robe on our site, for all who can't be with us at this time in Jerusalem. The completion of the blue robe, with its seventy-two golden bells and pomegranates, will be a major step towards preparations for the Holy Temple in our time. Our thanks go out to all those who participated in, and supported this project.

Please check the Events page at the Temple Institute's website to keep informed of new developments. Rabbi Richman will be visiting the USA in early January and details of his schedule will be posted on the Events page during the coming days.

With blessings from Jerusalem,
